Inspire Me Thursday

It's that time again!

Man oh man... I must admit to you folks, that I have been struggling this week to find inspiration!  I've been sinking deeper and deeper into my couch, and let me tell you, the inspiration does NOT lie there... It's time to snap out of it!  Plan of attack?  My first step was to get a knitting project going,  so I stopped at my local knitting shop last night and picked up some wool good for felting... I want to make something similar to what you see below... I'm already feeling better!  Next step is exercise...I fell off that train a while ago and the effects are catching up with me!  I joined a yoga class at the community centre and I think it's time I dust off the ole runners! It is a perfect time of year for jogging, but the hardest step is the one out the front door!

My Mermaid!  I sculpted this with fresh air clay and it has been quite the labour of love... I'm still finishing up some final touches but I should be ready to unveil my finished product by next week.  I can tell you're shaking with anticipation. ; )
I am in love with these!  My father in-law gave me some old photo's he picked up at an antique shop years ago and I think I breathed some new life into them by adding some of my pressed flowers.  I don't know the subjects in the photo's....which makes them all the more mysterious... Now I just have to find a place to display them.
Instagram makes everything look impressive doesn't it?  A beautiful bouquet a work contact sent me...

A possible fall project in the works...
ha ha ha...if you have no money...

The weekend is so close I can taste it!!

Thanks for reading!

Feast Your Eyes: Split Pea Soup

Hello my lovelies, what a perfect day for some comfort food! I am no chef,  but a good recipe deserves to be shared and this one would be pretty perfect for a day like today...and after a few changes to the original (from Canadian Living) to make it easier,  I think I've perfected  it!
Here's what you'll need:

2tbsp butter
2-3 carrots, diced
2-3 ribs of celery diced
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1-3/4 cups of dried yellow split peas
2 bay leaves
1tsp dried thyme
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
half a package of bacon chopped (or more or less depending on how much you like bacon)

In a large pot melt your butter over medium heat and cook carrots, celery, onion, and garlic until softened and golden, about 15 minutes.

Stir in split peas, bay leaves, thyme, salt and pepper and cook stirring for 2 minutes.

Stir in 8 cups of water, add bacon and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours

Serve it will some nice crusty bread...sooo good!
This made 7-8 big servings....

Hope you think it's yummy too!

Inspire Me Thursday

Happy Thursday dear readers...the weekend is a mere day away and I am ready for it! I have crafty plans that I just can't wait to get started!

Here are some inspirations...

Ha!  Trophy wine stoppers...for all those trophies I have laying around... : ) I wish you could make wine stoppers with participation ribbons... : )

Ohhh...I like this idea!

Check out this old church turned house...wouldn't that be cool?

A bunch of old photographs James' dad gave me... : )

We love to dress up!  : ) And this picture is a very iconic pose in our family... it's the  'in front of the fireplace shot'... every couple has one, and now we do too!  Thanks Uncle Terry!

Instagram is inspiring me BIG TIME lately!  I took these pictures while I was home and they make me want to curl up in a plaid blanket with a good book....I love fall.

Baby corn... : )

My Mums!
I was waiting on the front porch after work for James because I forgot my keys... and this happened!  : )

Have a wondeful weekend!
